Sullivans for the Saviour July 2020

We have nearly finished 7th months of 2020 – a year I’m sure many of us will be happy to see the end of it. We have been back in South Africa for three months. As we reflect over these past months there have been a number of disappointments, which we know are not beyond God’s control. Heather missed her annual Baptist Women’s “Reload Conference” and Andy had to cancel the planned ZEFA Women’s Conference. Both were to be held in May. We had to cancel a trip to Cape Town which was planned for the beginning of July. However we are glad in a way as that was when Cape Town experienced severe storms and freezing weather! We have also had to cancel the upcoming ZEBS Teacher’s Conference which was planned for the end of August and it does not seem likely that our annual ZEFA Conference will be held in October as we would have over 200 people gathering. Please pray that we will use our time effectively as we minister to our Zionist church leaders.

Andy keeps in touch via social media and cell phone technology. We have had two of our Zionist bishops pass away due to the COVID-19 virus (that we know of). Although Andy wasn’t able to attend the funerals, his Executive members who live in the area attended on behalf of ZEFA. Please pray for the families and churches of these Zionist church leaders. We have also heard about the passing away of one of our ZEBS Teachers, Jabulani “JJ” Mbatha

We continue to attend Church services at Idwala who are meet outside in the grounds. We were blessed to attend a “Park and Praise” service at Scottburgh Baptist where we met in our vehicles. Pastor Ian Stuart was against the church wall under a gazebo covering and used a sound system. It reminded us of going to the Drive – In in our younger days!

Andy was privileged to do the daily devotionals for Scottville Baptist Church for one week, Monday to Friday. This was a new experience as he had to record the messages on his laptop using Zoom which was accompanied by a Power Point Presentation. Then he had to get it to Tim Houghting who had to post each message every morning of the week. It was sent out using You Tube, Facebook and Audio. Praise the Lord that Tim was providentially in Port Shepstone helping his Grandad who was moving into new premises. You can listen to the devotions on You Tube under Scottsville Baptist Church.

Family News

We are continuing to work on the house next door during Lockdown. We have now painted two of the bedrooms that needed attention and have moved two built-in cupboards from one bedroom into another. Andy is really learning to be “handy Andy”, being helped by Heather and Casi who has been able to visit regularly. We have also been blessed regarding needed furniture. Missionary colleagues (Hasenknopf family) have returned to Germany and sold us some of their household goods. Quintin and family were able to bring the furniture down to us using his bakkie (pick-up) and large trailer. This also enabled us to have “unofficial family time”. Quintin took voluntary retrenchment (saving three others their jobs) and has started his own business repairing vehicles. Please pray that God will protect and provide as they start their new journey in life. Kirsten and family have put their house on the market and are planning to buy another home close by. With Haydn working from home they need a place where he can have privacy and quiet. Please pray that their house will sell quickly and that the purchase of the other house will happen smoothly.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and loving support.

Blessings, Andy & Heather Sullivan
