ZEMA’s Internship opportunities in missions provide an excellent way for students to get first-hand experience and develop skills in teaching, communications, and serving others as a developing leader. Whether virtual or in person, the student will experience and support ministries in a third-world context. Is your focus theology, communications, or an interest in mentoring and Christian education? Financial Outline of Costs that may be raised for ZEMA
- All ticket fees for transport the internship requires: to and from South Africa, as well as between venues within Southern Africa. | In person only.
- The daily rate is $50/day. | In person only.
This amount covers :
- Room and board
- Petrol costs with ZEMA personnel in Southern Africa
- Remuneration of translators during presentations
- One night in a South African Game Reserve
- Stipend: Up to $3000 to offset school costs for the following year that might have been earned in a Stateside work opportunity
Final amount to be raised by the intern:
- Minimum – An amount to pay for trip fees and daily rate
- Maximum – An amount to pay for trip fees, daily rate plus additional funds attributed to the Stipend amount

Communications | Audio & Video | Virtual Internship
The intern will be in regular communication with the internship coordinator during this virtual internship. This will happen through written, audio and video sharing of documents, and regular live audio and video discussions through available media platforms. These are some of the potential projects available for this virtual internship.
- Producing a multi-media presentation for ZEMA
- Missionaries
- Creating ZEMA Podcast programs
- Posting ZEMA Podcast programs
- Assisting ZEMA missionaries to be better equipped to capture their own stories with audio and video tools
- Researching new and innovative ways to use digital audio and video materials to reach the amaZioni churches with the transforming power of Jesus Christ
- Assisting ZEMA to integrate these new, innovative digital materials into normal, everyday ministry amongst the amaZioni churches

Internship Communications | App Development | Virtual Internship
The intern will be in regular communication with the internship coordinator during this virtual internship. This will happen through, written, audio and video sharing of documents and regular live audio and video discussions through available media platforms. The main focus for this internship is to assist ZEMA in researching and creating a plan for the development and the creation a ZEMA App for Electronic devices on Apple or Android or PC platforms. This could include:
- Communicating with current ZEMA missionaries to determine what the needs are presently
- Contact protentional app development organizations to see what is available and how ZEMA could proceed with the app development project
- Create a viable action plan for moving forward with the creation of an app, which would include the why, what, and how of the functions of the app
- Partner with the ZEMA Electronic and Internet Based Teaching and Learning Team to provide good and effective opportunities through the app for ZEMA missionaries, ZEMA mission partners and amaZioni churches in Southern Africa

ZEMA is looking for students in online marketing with creative minds and a fresh outlook who would be available to assist us using online platforms, and working with the ZEMA media team, to reach:

Internship Missionary Opportunities | Cross Cultural/Bible Teaching | In Person
Description: ZEMA offers students a variety of internships in theology, pastoral, and cross-cultural studies. These internships are focused on developing personal skills, and leadership training of national church pastors. In this internship, the intern would shadow a career missionary whose primary ministry responsibilities revolve around teaching at Zion Bible Schools(ZEBS and ZBC) , Sunday School Teacher Training, or Youth Leadership Training. This internship could include an extended stay with the family of a national pastor, and participation in the ongoing ministry of his local congregation.
This, as with all of ZEMA’s internships, allows the intern to raise a stipend up to $3000. The stipend amount will be determined at the conclusion of the internship (Total Raised-Total Costs= Stipend Amount). Internship Missionary Opportunities | Communications | In Person
Description: In this internship, prior to arriving in South Africa, the intern will be in regular communication with the internship coordinator. Through this communication, a productive goal for the internship will be identified. This could include a multi-media presentation, or an archive of information such as pictures, videos, stories, and blog-posts. This intern will move between ministry locations, and this may involve travelling independantly using reliable public transport. In addition to the internship coordinator, he/she will be assigned a missionary who is primarily responsible for the internship while the student is in Southern Africa. This internship may involve traveling independently, by reliable public transport, between ministry locations. This, as with all of ZEMA’s internships, allows the intern to raise a stipend up to $3000. The stipend amount will be determined at the conclusion of the internship (Total Raised-Total Costs= Stipend Amount).

Internship Missionary Opportunities | Camping Ministry | In Person
Description: This internship is at Sunbury Christian Camp in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. The intern would be involved in ministries and tasks at Sunbury in line with his/her skills, experience, and with those needed at the time. The intern would be assigned specific duties that are a help to the career missionaries ministering at Sunbury. These duties would allow the intern contact with the Sunbury employed staff working on the Grounds, in Maintenance, and the Housekeeping Staff. Some ministry in local communities may be assigned by the missionary overseeing Community Ministries. Contact our office to discuss available dates and locations for this internship, as well as the specific needs required for your internship. This, as with all of ZEMA’s internships, allows the intern to raise a stipend up to $3000. The stipend amount will be determined at the conclusion of the internship (Total Raised– Total Costs= Stipend Amount).
Qualifications
- A student with an interest in Christian camping/hospitality ministry
- Some experience in a local congregation or ministry
- A deep love for God and a close personal walk with Him
- A servant’s attitude: a willingness to do any of the tasks related to the camping ministry. This may include light maintenance, manual labor, supervision of staff and administrative responsibilities.
