Sullivans for the Saviour

JANUARY 20212

Dear Friends,

Our prayer for you this new year is Hebrews 13: 20 -21 “Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,  the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will,  working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ,  to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”  It is a great source of encouragement to know that God has already equipped us with all we need for this new year AND he is doing the work within us so that by doing God’s will we are living lives that please him. May you know these realities as you enter this new year.

We had a WONDERFUL Christmas with all our children and grandchildren.  Kirsten and family came and stayed in the house next door for about 10 days. Andrea and her family came for the Christmas weekend end and Casi also spent Christmas with us as her medical practice closed for those few days. It was a wonderful chaotic time of fun with family!

January began as usual with our annual ZEMA Missionary Conference when all of us get together at Sunbury for a time of fellowship and fun, for spiritual renewal and refreshment and for business and sharing our reports.   We have a new Field Director (designate) who will take office from January 2023 and we look forward to what lies ahead.  Paul Seelhammer will not only prepare this year to be the new Field Director, but he also takes over from Andy as Administrator of ZEFA.  Andy turned 65 in November last year and therefore is supposed to retire. However, the Field Council has agreed that we continue for another year as long as our support keeps coming in.  So Andy will assist Paul this year as we look for new opportunities to serve the Lord among the amaZioni.

Please pray that God will guide and direct us during this year as we go through this time of transition into another “phase of growing old”.   We plan on doing deputation in the UK during March and April. We have decided to split our overseas travels this time and will go to the USA in 2023 (God willing and covid permitting).  We have applied for our visas and now wait for their answer.  One of our hopes is to also visit Germany where we have a number of friends and a German missionary who served with ZEMA for about 10 years and is now a leader in his mission (DMG) in Germany. We already have preaching appointments booked and are waiting for more confirmations.

Other plans for 2022 include continuing to teach at South Coast Bible School at the end of February and again in May and July.  After this Andy and Heather will be speaking on Marriage Enrichment at a Baptist Pastor’s Couple Retreat. Andy has also started a Mukhanyo Distance Learning Centre at Sunbury which will happen at the same time as their ZEBS classes.  Our missionary colleague Marius Swart will he helping him teach as Marius is already involved at ZEBS.

FAMILY NEWS:  The grandchildren are back at school. Carson goes into grade 9.  Riley and Raiden go into grade 7  (next year they will be in High School!) Georgia goes into Grade 3.

May you have a Blessed 2022 – Thank you once again for your love, prayers and ongoing support.
