Home Office Director’s Report.

BY GREG AND CARLENE SEGHERS

We would like to once again, thank you for your prayers, and the many ways that you encourage and support ZEMA’s ministries. And we’d like to extend our thanks to each of you as you continue to support ZEMA’s ministries in the many ways that you do. We recently heard something that encouraged our hearts personally, applies to ZEMA’s place in God’s work in the world, and makes us think of you!

Imagine with me that you and I each hold in our hands a single, tiny, 1/1000 piece of a 1000-piece puzzle. For both of us, our piece is small. In the greater scheme of God’s work in the world, you and I are a small part. But our pieces are unique, and the beauty of our unique qualities are gifts that enable us to bless others. Additionally, each piece is significant. If that piece were missing from the greater picture, it would be incomplete.

Similarly, we have increasingly experienced that ZEMA is one small ministry among many that God has strategically and uniquely placed to fill a specific spot in His good work in the world.

And then there’s you. Thank you. Thank you for your unique place of encouragement, prayer, and support for ZEMA, ZEMA missionaries, and the amaZioni. Thank you for blessing us with the gifts God has equipped you to share. You are aware. You pray. You encourage. And we know and have experienced your support through the ways that you have joined your heart with ours to share Jesus with the amaZioni. We praise God that though we may be small, each of us is uniquely equipped and significant as God completes His good work! As you contemplate your place in our ZEMA family, enjoy a digital puzzle of an amaZioni Sunday School parade.

If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body… YOU are the body of Christ and individually members of it!
~1 Corinthians 12: 19&27

How can YOU Support ZEMA?

Through Your Prayers!

Your faithful prayers and support of ZEMA enable us to continue our ministries to share Jesus with the amaZioni people in Southern Africa. Your prayers are essential! People, the amaZioni, still need Jesus. Poor, confused, suffering, and longing for hope beyond what this world offers, resources are sequestered by the wealthy and powerful, and the poor are overlooked. National infrastructures and political conflict leave ministries, such as ZEMA, caught in the middle. Two verses come to mind:

When [Jesus] saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” ~Matthew 9:36-38

For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine… for the world and its fullness are mine… Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”        ~Psalm 50:10-15

God is faithful to hear and answer your prayers. Please pray for the missionaries and their ministries, as they face the same complications of life as you. Daily acting as your representatives and the hands and feet of Jesus in Southern Africa. Jesus knows the beginning from the end and has access to every resource needed to accomplish His work.

Through Estate Planning and Retirement Plans

Estate planning is a powerful way to leave a legacy. By including ZEMA in your estate plan, you can ensure that your commitment to ZEMA’s ministries continues for generations to come. We’d like to highlight some impactful ways you might consider supporting ZEMA’s missionaries through estate planning and retirement plans. Some of these could benefit you as tax break opportunities while simultaneously supporting ZEMA’s ministries in Southern Africa.

We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our donors. By leaving a portion of their estates to ZEMA, two generous donors have made it possible that for the last five years, ZEMA lowered and has maintained the missionary administrative costs to 5% of that missionary’s support. This amount is at least half the amount required by other similar organizations.

Bequests: You can designate ZEMA as a beneficiary in your will or trust. This can be a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or a residual bequest after other obligations are met.

Beneficiary Designations: You can name ZEMA as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy, retirement account, or other financial accounts. This is a simple way to make a significant impact without altering your will.

Charitable Remainder Trusts: These trusts provide income to you or your loved ones for a specified period, with the remainder going to ZEMA. This can offer tax benefits for you while simultaneously supporting ZEMA.

Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

Required Minimum Distributions (RMD)

These methods of missionary support could allow you to contribute to organizations with 501(c)(3) status, such as ZEMA. Contributing to our ministry could simultaneously reduce your taxable income. QCDs and RMDs can be designated for individual missionaries since they are employed by ZEMA.

The IRS allows people over the age of 70.5 years to make QCDs that lower their taxable income by directing funds from their IRAs, 401(k)s, or other tax-deferred retirement accounts to support charitable organizations and ministries like ZEMA. For investors over the age of seventy-three, QCDs could be instated to satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMDs) mandated by the IRS.

A Sunbury Maintenance Project

Sunbury Christian Camp is a ZEMA facility that hosts the ZEBS teacher conference, classes, graduation ceremonies, alumni gatherings, ZEFA meetings, training events, and ZEMA retreats. When not in use by ZEMA’s ministries, Sunbury serves as a place of respite and retreat for children, young adults, and families from local churches and other Christian ministries. Sunbury needs to maintain a General Maintenance Fund of $8,000 to handle large projects such as the maintenance of a John Deer mower & other vehicles, maintenance of Sunbury’s generator/solar, water pump, and security fence systems. If you are able to assist with these needs at Sunbury a more detailed description is available, Click HERE.
