Your word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. We will not be
anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, we present our requests to God. For He will guide us and strengthen us, and uphold us with His righteous right hand. So that, all that we do, we will work at it with all our hearts, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

HELLO FAMILY and FRIENDS 6+ MONTHS LATER We give God all the glory, thus far He has kept us. In these past 6+ months we’ve had lots of fun, time missing family, and had so many different experiences complementing and enriching our lives/time at Sunbury Christian Camp. We’ve lived through hot and humid days, summer rains (lots of It) hail, thunder, and lightning storms. I also had a short visit to Cape Town. We celebrated Christmas, New Year, and participated in a ZEMA conference.
FAMILY IS EVERYTHING
Family life looks different now. Do we miss our family? ABSOLUTELY!!! But God in His gracious mercy has comforted and strengthened us. Then trusting Him allows for another blessing, a visit to Cape Town to our organizational audit. During this time, I was able to spend time with our children and grandchildren. Life without our children, grandchildren, church community, and family has been “a getting used to”. We thank GOD for modern technology, everyone is a phone or video call away. This had been a time of growing and trusting in the Lord for us and our family.

Window of Heaven Fellowship Church Community

Being part of a strong, supportive church community helps. The daily contact keeps us in touch with life at, and within our church community. Sunday morning worship and church service is absolute blessing. We take the opportunity to thank our Sen Pastors Ricardo & Alana Wessels, our church leadership, and the church community for their love, prayer and support.

Life at Sunbury

Sceptics tanks, geyser repairs and replacements, pool maintenance, electrics, plumbing and tree-felling, are all part of a day’s work. Life after the July unrest in Durban affected many families. However, this took second place in an already economically devastated San Souci
community. Sunbury is situated on the hill surrounded by many such communities. San Souci, home to 7 Sunbury staffers. While carnage did not occur in our area, it did affect the livelihood of the families in Sunbury’s employ. We often want to save the world, but if we are intentional about what we do the minutest assistance will bring relief to a family. God spoke to our hearts and we were able to provide care packages in the form of veg and fruit parcels once a month to 7 staff members. While it was not much it did offer some form of relief.
Care, love and support to Missionaries and staff, is part and parcel of work and ministry.
We pray for Dan and Beth Hoffman (Camp Director) as they make their way back to Sunbury later this month after 6 months of Home Assignment.

Christmas Party

22nd December 2022 we hosted our first Sunbury Christmas party. The directive to staff was to “Dress up for the occasion, and ladies to add a
touch of lipstick. What a blast, we had so much fun leading up to the day of the party. Prayer, praise and worship was sustenance for the task ahead, cooking through the night. Work areas was a buzz as staff anticipated what was about to take place. With teamwork, we were able to decorate the dining hall. I tried my hand floral arranging, all I can say is PRAISE GOD. The staff was served and loved. They were not
allowed to assist with preparation or clean-up. The whole year staff clean for, and serve others, today was their day. We shared God’s word and followed with thanks and acknowledgements. We ended the afternoon with blessings of gifts, and each staff member received a take-home Tupperware container, one with food and another with dessert. There was so much and we were able o share even further.
The Christmas party would not have been possible without the help of the Pinters, Ms Jackson and the Lee’s. When you say YES to God he will direct your path, and make provision for His mission.

Conference

There is much thought, love, and care that went into this conference. What a blessing to have been a participant. We met so many new missionary families, was introduced to their ministries, and listened to their testimonies. We met, we hugged, we laughed, and we cried. I see the thread of Christ as He unites people from all walks of life, across the globe. We connected, shared stories, comforted, prayed for,
and encouraged. For some of us, there was that heart connection.
Praise God for how He connects people. Everyone at the conference was served and cared for with love. Catering for 60 adults, plus children is not an easy task, but the CCC Team of 6 made it look so effortless. That is love. That is servitude. We are also grateful to the Sunbury staff for their contribution.

LIFE AT SIM is equally exciting.
A quote from John C Maxwell – Change is inevitable… growth is optional. To grow you must see the value in yourself to add value to yourself
and others. You must know yourself to grow yourself, and it is hard to improve when you have no one but yourself to follow. 6 months under the leadership of Benjamin Pillay, an exemplary, motivating and exciting time. In the past 3 months, our Finance Department completed its financial year-end and an external audit. We have a great contingent of staff and missionaries, all working together for one common goal, to make Christ Jesus known through love and ministry.
Thank you to everyone for their prayers, love and support.

The Finance Department sadly had to say goodbye to our Treasurer, Gerhard Venter due to illness. We trust God with the Venter family, for grace, peace and healing. We are grateful to Freeman Ndlovu, Deputy Treasurer for his leadership at this time.
God bless the Finance Department, God bless SIM.

THANK YOU
We take this opportunity to thank Mark and Barbara Hugo for their role, prayer, love and support in our lives. We honour God for His connection.
